We are having trouble getting the inspection status to output FAIL. It has Inspection Status=Fail but in bold green highlights PASS. Anyone have an idea. This is key because we are trying to send a read/write output based on this inspection status.

The Pass may be referring to the step itself (meaning the step executed successfully). What you are most interested in is the Inspection Status. This is shown in the text for the state (Inspection Status=Fail) and also on the bottom right of the Inspection sequence (the large LED that says Inspection Status above it).

Hi,
You need to set appropriate limits in the Limits tab of each step. Then you need to insert a Set Inspection Status step, that you can find on the last tab, to set the Inspection Status system variable.

If you mean you want to link the status to some hardware signal, you would want to use one of the steps listed in the Communicate Tab.
