vision system for a robot

Hello!

i have a manipulator und want to use NI PCI-7358 to control the motors.

in addtion to the position control system, i also want to design a vision system for visual feedback. I have a few questions:

1. Which hardware components (i must use mini-cameras, at best with stereo feature) should i buy to use in the vision system?
Mini-Camera(s)? Framegrabber? DAQ-Card for synchronization with motion controller? etc..?
2. Must i use PXI-System wenn ich use Motion-Controller, Frame-Grabber and DAQ-Card together? Or i can use all of them as PCI?

Thanks a lot for your reply!!!

1. I would start with the Camera-Advisor to find the right camera for your application:
http://volt.ni.com/niwc/advisor/camera_vision.jsp
Depending on the camera you choose, you then can choose the right frame-grabber board.

2. PCI-Boards can be synchronized via the built in RTSI-bus, so you can use the three boards in a standard PC, too. Anyway, PXI-Systems are much more flexible when you want to expand the system in the future, and have other advantages (built for industrial environment, better trigger-possibilities etc.)

hello!

recently i found this mini-camera (TransChip's CoderCam TC5740), its size and resolution should be ok.

question:

which card can/must i use to acquire and process the images from this camera (perhaps two cameras for stereo-effect)?

thanks for your replies!
