The purpose of the project is to monitor size, aspect and value of components of electronics boards we manufactured. To do that, we plain to use a camera, an image acquisition device and the Vision Builder Software. The characters of the components have at least a size of 200 micrometers. Therefore, we would like to use a four megapixel camera and the corresponding image acquisition device which will be either the NI PCIe-8255R or the NI PCI-1426, NI PCIe-1427, NI 1428 (pages 420 and 424 of the Measurement and AUtomation 07 Catalog). It will depend on the camera we will choose. We will not treat the information constantly but each time we will analyse only one single fixed image.
We would like to know if there is a processor more suitable than one other concerning the algorithms. Moreover, is it more convenient to use a video graphics array integreted to a main board or a video graphics array separed of the main board?
