Cannot communicate GPIBUSB-B and or PCI-GPIB with NorthAtlantic Model 8810A Angle Position Indicator when using Measurement and automation software.

I can see a device on the specific address but there is no identification of the device, no read, write or query.

First, you posted to the wrong board. Measure is an add-on program for Excel. The correct board is Instrument Control.

Second, have you verified in the manual that the instrument supports the *IDN? query? If it doesn't then you can just ignore the message in MAX that it did not respond to it. You could then use MAX to communicate to the instrument with the commands that are in the manual to verify that communication is okay.
