High Resistance Measurement with nanoamps current source

Hi,
Im working on semiconductor-based sensors & needed to measure the sensor resistance.
The range is from around 2G to say 50M.
I plan to use the 2-pt method of driving a constant current say around 100nA & then measure the voltage across the sensor. Having a variable current source would be better to plot the V-I characteristics.
So is there a card which possibly can integrate the nA current generation & voltage measurement together? or do either of functionality?
Also is there any way to measure currents in nA range?

Hope for some inputs.

Thanks,

Hi Mehul,

The PXI-4130 is a source measure unit (SMU) which can source current at a resolution of 10nA and measure current with a resolution of 1nA. This will also allow you to sweep the current to get your V-I plots. Here is the link to the product page. Additional specifications for the SMU can be found here. Hopefully this will help you get started.

For future information, Measure is an add-on for Excel which allows for data acquisition and instrument control in Microsoft Excel. A more appropriate board for this post would be “Digital Multimeters (DMMs) and Precision DC Sources”.

Regards,

FYI:
The smallest current setpoint that can be requested on the PXI-4130 is 2% of a range.  Since the smallest current range is 200uA, the smallest current setpoint possible with this module is 4uA.
