PCIe-6259 No Physical Device can be found

Hi out there,

I am new to DAQmx with LabView and have some problems with getting started.

Following Scenario: I need to drive several digital and analog I/O lines of a PCB Test Adapter. Therefor I have installed LabView 7.1.1, DAQmx 8.8 and a PCIe-6259 DAQ card on a PC with Windows XP SP3. After reading the DAQ getting started manual I figured out there should be a testpanel to test the basic functionality of my PCIe-6259 card in the Measurement and Automation Explorer. Indeed there is none (the corresponding entry in the context menu is grayed, i only can start the self calibration)?

The secondproblem I encountered is that if I create a NI-DAQmx-Task or virtual channel there could not be found any physical device although i can see the PCIe-6259 card in the windows device manager. Windows does not even report an error with the driver so to me the installation looks ok but LabView cannot access the card.

I would be very thankful for any help or at least any ideas what could be the reason for this behaviour (maybe some more manuals or something else to read)

best regards

Hi Erwinp,

since it sounds to me like you have correctly installed DAQmx and you can see your card but not perform any self tests or create tasks, I would first try to unplug the card, then reboot your PC, delete the greyed-out card in MAX and then replug the card an let MAX find it again.

If this does not solve the problem, then try deleting the following folder:

C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\National Instruments\MAX\Data

(Assume you are German?)

"Anwendungsdateien" or Application Data is a hidden folder so you might have to make that one visible.

Let me know if it helped

Hi David,

Thanks for your quick answer. Due to a maintainance of the NI forum I was not able to read your answer earlier. After some further investigation i found a solution similar to the one you provided. I deleted the card form in the MAX an started a repair installation under contol panel\software. As a result the PCI2-6259 card was again detected and the driver installation was renewed. After this all functions (like selftest) where available in MAX.

regards

Erwin
