Hello,
I'm new to Labview and experience time consuming problems configuring a Network Device (Lantronix Matchport b/g) connected to a local network.
I tried to create a TCP/IP Network Device in MAX (version 4.7.6) using the locally assigned static IP-address.
I get several error messages:
- If I want to save any changes --> an unknow error occurred while trying to apply the new settings.
- If i want to delete the created device --> an unknow error occurred while trying to delete this device. You may continue running MAX normally
- If I try to open VISO test panel --> unable to open session to "TCPIP0:10.86.176.212::0::INSTR"
return status code 0xBFFF0011
status name: VI_ERROR_RSRC_NFOUND
insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present in the
system.
The device is preset though: I checked its availability by pinging under windows cmd; also the configuration pag can be accessed by the WEB tab under MAX
- If I try to create a new TCP/IP device --> nothing happens at all.
I tried to repair the MAX installation by doing un upgrade --> no success
I tried to repair the MAX installation by doing a repair with the original installation disk --> no success
Can someone help me to solve these problems?
Attached the log reports under MAX

Dear Bakke,
Thank you so much for your post on our webforum. Did you create a VISA raw resource? Please refer to this KB and to the manual of the manufacturer for the correct port number. It is also best to temporary disable your firer wall to make sure you are able to communicate without any problem.
Best regards,

Dear Martijn,
Thank you for your reply.
During startup of MAX I already get the message:
Unexpected Error – Measurement & Automation Explorer> Measurement & Automation Explorer encountered an unexpected error since it was last run. For more information..... etc.
When I follow the procedure you describe nothing happens and furthermore I cannot delete the earlier made
“TCPIP0:10.86.176.212::0::INSTR”
I would like to know if reinstalling is the only option left and where on the installation disc I can find MAX to avoid a complete Labview reinstallation.

Dear Bakke,
I'm sorry for the delay in my response; yesterday I was out of office. We can try a few options;
- start a new MAX data base, please see the following KB
- we can try to repair MAX, go to control panel => programs and features => chose National Instruments software; you can find NI Measurement & Automation Explorer lited in this box
- you can try a later version of MAX, please download and install this software; it will update your current version.
Besides all this; are there any specific reasons why you are using the communication to your device through VISA? In other words; did you also consider the Labview TCP or UDP functions?
Best regards,
