64 bit operating system

Is is possible to develop an application which is

  1. developed in 32 bit windows
  2. using VS 2008,  Measurement Studio 2008 and DAQmx 9.1
  3. and using a deployment program built by VS2008

that installs and  run under 64 bit Windows ?

If so, what are the steps involved ?

Hi Morten,

I presume what you are asking if it's possible to run an 32-bit application on an 64-bit Windows 7 platform. This is possible because a subsystem called Windows-on-Windows (WOW64) included in the operating system that allows 32-bit applications to run on the 64-bit environment.

The steps needed will be the same as Develop & Deploy applications on 32-bit only enviroments.

Hi Morten,

Check out the "64-bit Support in Measurement Studio .NET Assemblies" help topic in Measurement Studio help, it talks quite a lot on 64bit support in Measurement Studio.

To launch the help go to Measurement Studio main menu in Visual Studio IDE and click on the NI Measurement Studio Help menu item.
