MAX 4.0.3 simulated devices not available

Sorry if this isn't the correct forum for this question but i couldn't find a more appropriate one.
I've installed the latest nidaqmx drivers and was trying to create a PCI-6534 for testing purposes but have hit a snag.


As you can see from the above image most of the devices aren't available. Is this a configuration problem, system problem or a known bug?

Hi Chris,

This is interesting.  I have never seen this before.  I know you said you have all your software installed and if you didn't you wouldn't have got that far.  I would suggest updating to the latest version of DAQmx which is 8.1.

This was using the latest version (listed as 8.1.0f1 in MAX->software list).

To give a little history  incase it helps.

    First off I installed the latest Traditional NiDaq.
          Wrote a small piece of software targeted for the PCI 6534 using the ActiveX controls in C-Sharp.
    Decided to have a look at NiDaqmx for the same tool, installe dthe latest version and came across the problem originally stated.
    Unistalled an ni software (both Traditional NiDaq and NiDaqmx)
    Installed latest NiDaqmx and the problem persisted.

Not sure if this helps but it can't hurt.

Hi Chris,

I'm afraid there is no quick fix for your problem.  Something must have gone wrong during your installation.  Max must have become corrupt somewhere.  The best thing you could do now would be to completly uninstall DAQ and DAQmx off your machine.  If you have any tasks or channels saved, you can use the export function to save them.

Simulated devices became available in DAQmx version 7.4.  I would suggest reinstalling your DAQmx driver to a version of 7.4 or above.  I know this is not an ideal fix but I think it will only take about an hour to do.  I'm sure this will solve your problem.

My original investigation did involve uninstalling everything then reinstalling the latest NIDAQ but the problem persisted.

However, I have just uninstalled everything again and installed NIDAQmx v8.0.1 (MAX v4) and the simulated devices options appear ok. So I uninstalled this and reinstalled the latest to find everything working ok.

Thank you for you assistance in this matter. As you said it must have been a corrupt installation
