After installing Measurement Studio 2009, I've noticed that it takes a long time (30-60 seconds) to open a Visual Studio project.
I do not have an internet connection on my development machine and suspect it could be waiting on some sort of network operation to time out. I've had problems with Visual Studio in the past as a result and have had to work around them by adding some entries to my hosts file (to redirect some Microsoft addresses to the local IP - this causes the network operations to time out immediately).
Just curious if anyone else has encountered this kind of slow startup time and has found a solution.
Thanks!

I found a KB article referring to a similar issue in MS 8.1. I'm not sure if the problem has simply not been fixed or why I'm still having this problem. The "per-machine" workaround listed in the article has fixed my problem.

Right, it would be great to see a step-by-step approach.
I am just exploring it now to see if it is the right solution for our needs.
