NI DAQ versions

Hi,

I hope someone can help me to clarify this.

I'm developing an application to continuously acquire numbers of analog input channels from SCXI-1102B and SCXI-1327 modules.

I chose CWAI controls for the task simply because I like the CWAI_AcquiredData() event, although I know I should at least use VB6 with DAQmx function calls. 

However, after I read the message

I feel very much confused and have doubt about the choice I made. It seems that in order to have CWAI control functioning properly, I need to have the traditional DAQ driver 7.4.1.or earlier. I know for sure that I have DAQmx 7.5 installed, I also suspect the traditional DAQ driver is installed as well, as I can see all the CW ActiveX controls (include DAQ) from the Visual Basic aplication. What makes things more confused is that I have installed both the 'NI Mesurement Studio 6.0 + Updater' and 'NI Mesurement Studio 7.1 for .NET'.

How can I find out the version(s) of the DAQ drivers? If I keep the CWAI control, will it be an issue in the future when the application is distributed to another PC considering that a Traditional DAQ driver is needed?

Hi LogicT,

I wasn't clear about what you were asking exactly, but it sounds like you want to check how to check what version of the drivers you have installed.  You should be able to check if you have the Traditional NI-DAQ drivers on your machine in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).  Open MAX and expand My System in the Configuration window on the left.  You shoud then expand the Software entry and look for something that says "Traditional NI-DAQ."  By clicking on it, MAX should tell you the version number in the center panel.

To answer your other question, you must have the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) drivers installed on the machine that you are distributing your application to.
