NI488 software installs new version of cwui.ocx

Installs of NI-DAQ or NI488 automatically include an upgrade to the CWUI component of Measurement Studio. Incredibly, this is done whether you want it or not. A consequence of this is that your source files get modified so that they cannot be easily transferred to another system using the older version of CWUI. In addition, problems occur related to installing compiled version of the project (missing DLLs, etc.) This is a HUGE, UNECCESARY PAIN.

The upgraded version of CWUI is supposed to automatically terminate after 30 days, but in my experience it hangs around longer than that.

How can one manually revert back to the original liscensed version of CWUI?

I have tried editing the all of the source files to modify the references so that they point back to the right version, re-registering the correct version of CWUI, but this does not seem to work.

Hello,
Sorry about the issues that you are having. This is a known problem with some older installers and it has been fixed in newer versions of the installers. Which version of the NI-DAQ and NI488 installer did you run? You should be able to fix the state of the cwui control by using the Measurement Studio License Fixer Utility that is included with the Knowledge Base Article
ActiveX Controls Evaluation Message Box Appears after Installing Measurement Studio
. Please post back if this doesn't resolve the issue.

Thanks

Thanks Nauman,

Actually, my controls reverted on their own back to the liscensed version just after posting the message. I am glad to hear that the "Evaluation version" is no longer a "feature" of the new installs. This "feature" has caused lots of problems. If I encounter this again, I will try the Liscense fixer utility.
