not showing up in MAX

it's been a rough day for NI here - I have used a USB-6009 with Windows XP fine for several years.  Last night I disconnected and reconnected its USB cable before shutting down.  This morning it showed up in MAX but failed the self test.  Also, I could not remove the device in MAX even when it was physically disconnected from the system (still showed up green in the device manager but still failed the self test).  I have a spare USB-6009 that also did not work, suggesting DAQmx / MAX was the problem.  After countless disconnects/reconnects and reboots, I finally uninstalled and reinstalled DAQmx and MAX.  Immediately after reinstalling, the problem persisted, but several disconnects/reconnects/reboots later I actually got the USB-6009 icon to go grey with the red X in MAX and then was able to remove it.  After plugging it back in it worked momentarily but then I had to reboot for other reasons and now I can't get it to show up in MAX at all - no devices present.  It shows up in my Windows Device Manager no problem, but not in MAX - any suggestions for things to try?  Thanks!

Britt -

I'm sorry that this issue is causing you so much pain. This seems to be an issue with DAQmx or MAX rather than with the Measurement Studio VB6 support for DAQ (which doesn't support DAQmx).

Could you re-post this question to the Multifunction DAQ forum (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board?board.id=250)? That forum is monitored by people who are more likely to be able to help you.

Hi Britt,

You may want to try the solution in this article.  Even though the problem isn't directly related, I have seen funny things happen with the 6009 disassociating itself with the driver.  Basically, it suggests to update the driver in Windows Device Manager to get the 6009 to reassociate itself with DAQmx.

USB-6008/6009 shows up in Device Manager with yellow exclamation point

If that doesn't help, please let us know what version of the driver you are using and your OS.  As David suggested, you will probably want to repost this in the Multifunction DAQ forum as well.
