Connect NI PXI Analog Output to control Maxon DECV-50-5

Hello,

sorry for stupid question.

There is no current limit of analog inputs (0...5V) "Set value speed" and "Set value current" of Maxon Drive  in manual. There is aux source 5V/2mA to be used with manual potentiometer. (so I expect that Maxin Analog inputs can be limited by 2mA)

I would like to control it by Analog outpust AO of NI PXI 6251

Output range ....................................±10 V, ±5 V, ±external

reference on APFI <0..1>

Output coupling...............................DC

Output impedance ...........................0.2 Ω

Output current drive ........................±5 mA

Overdrive protection .......................±25 V

Overdrive current ............................20 mA

Can I connect NI AO to Maxon AI without doing anytning else? I'm not sure about mA to prevent damage.

Thank you for help.

Dear Marek,

Checking the provided documentation, you can use the PXI-6251 to directly drive the Maxon Drive. The described AI lines accept voltage signals, and Voltage AI are always high resistance to provide accurate measurements and small energy losses. The AO of the NI card is also Voltage-based, meaning it will provide a voltage source with a maximum current available.

Make sure to pay attention to the rules of grounding. There is a complete description on how to ground your signals here.

I have already connected and it works properly!

Thank you very much for response. Especially for article about Ground Loops.
