Controlling a X/Y-Stage with a 6-DOF ISA F/T-Sensor from ATI or a Joystick

With LabView 7 motion control and the PCI-7344 cart I would like control two EC-Servomotors in combination with the Encoder HEDL 9140 and the Servo amplifier DES50/5 form Maxon.

In one test I work with the program

Motion Control with USB Joystick

but the program doesn´t work proper.

  • After few seconds the motor runs out of control e.g. I move the Joystick to the right and the motor spins to the left with full speed doesn´t detect any softwarelimts set before in Max.

  • Another phenomena is that sometimes after a movement and a stop a new movement is not possible in the other direction until a short move in the direction before

With an additional “Wait until next ms” > 80ms in the “While loop” the problems appear with a slower rate but still exists and with the disadvantage of a slower response time.

From NI I get the information that the program runs in their system without a time delay.

Why doesn´t it function in my system?

I have to use ActiveX to get the Force/Torque information from the ISA F/T-Sensor.
Do you know how fast the communication between LabView and ActiveX is?
