Digital I/O on UMI 7772 attached to PCI-7340

I am trying to use the digital input connector on my UMI-7772 to attach a 4 position (micro-switch) joystick. Before making a cable, I am trying to test the inputs on the 7772. According to the user manual, I should be able to hook a switch between Viso and any digital input. I have tried connecting pin 5 to pin 1 (Viso to DI 1), but I do not see an active state (using Read I/O Portal or Read Digital I/O Data.vi) on the port.

Also, I am not seeing +5VDC between Viso and Ciso on the connector, even though I have verified a good +5VDC at the Viso power connector.

If I connect the digital port on the PCI-7340 to an SCB-68 breakout, I can see the DI properly. However, I prefer to use the digital port on the 7772. I prefer not to use an SCB-68 unless it is my only choice.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Rick

Have you verified that you can see an active high on those digital ports on the UMI from another source? Is that what you mean when you mention the SCB-68?

Yes. If I connect my SCB-68 directly to the digital I/O port on the 7340, I get voltage and see the digital inputs just fine.

I have done more testing, and it looks like the issue is the Viso pin. If I jump straight across from the Viso input to a digital input, I see the pin go high, just as expected.

It appears that the Viso on the 25 pin digital connector of the 7772 is not functional.

It sounds like based on your configuration, this Viso pin should be outputting data. Do you happen to have another UMI to try it with? If not, you might have a bad pin.
