Hi SHV,
first of all I will recommend which hardware you want to use. Basically for controlling a stepper motor you need a Motion controller and a Drive.
Actually I don't know why you want to use 7851 R card and cSeries module 9474. Anyhow you can connect the FPGA card with an expansion chassis NI 9151 to
plug the 9474.
In following link you will find fundamentals about controlling motors with NI motion:
Fundamentals of Motion Control
http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3367/en
Furthermore you need a software application. NI offers LabVIEW - a graphical program language and LabWindows CVI - this is a ANSCI C-Development system
for programming in C.

Hi RupiDo
I have only this hardware .I conected 9474 to external power supply and conected CRio 9151 with 7851R card. The present setup is not working ,i not able to understand the problem.Stepper is very old oneBERGER LAHR make.

Hi SHV,
I'm not familiar with your application. Basically were you able to run your stepper with this Hardware setup?
- How do you control your motor? ( What is used as controller, it`s the 7851R card?)
- Which signals do you generate in relation to NI 9474 for which component of the system?
- What's your software development system?
Please provide this info to get a better understanding for your application.
Kind regards,
Rupert

Hello Rupert,
I am not able to run the stepper motor with the existing harware.
I want to control using 7851r card connected to CRIO 9151 chasis.Conneced to 9474 which is conected to stepper motor with an external power supply.
-regading signal generation runing 9474 i am not getting idea, which signal has to be used to run the stepper motor.
- i am using LABVIEW 2010.i have an option of unsing LABWindows Cvi.
NI-1062Q chasis
PXIe-8130
PXIe.7851R
i want to run stepper motor using this hardware and software. Is it possible ? with out any driver circuit can the 7851r do the task of driver circuit .
Kind regards
SHV

Hi SHV,
actually I don't know in which context you want to use your existing hardware for your stepper motor.
1. The hardware, which you describe, is/was used for which application? ( data acquisition, controlling a system, etc)?
2. Did you buy the hardware especially for the motor application?
3. You don't know how which signals are required for your stepper motor.
Here are some basics from NI about motor control
http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3367/en
http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3054/en
4. Why do you get the idea the digital output module 9474 is suitable for the stepper motor?
I would recommend to talk directly to the customer support, so we can figure out in detail your aims about
the application. Contact your local NI office or request
a service request on following website:
