ICS-200

Hello:
We have a piece of equipment in our lab (an ICS-200 Tribometer).  The machine came without a computer.  It hasd a DAQ board.  The manual says that there is one analog signal and 8 digital signals coming out to the board on the machine.

We would like to take the readings from the instruments in the machine to a computer and put them to a spreadsheet.  I am not an expert in Data Aquisition but someone suggested that we need (National Instruments M-Series, NI-6220) is that  correct?? Also is it possible to know what type of board we need from the drawing that is already on the machine.

Hello haabdela,

The NI-6220 is just one of the boards that we make that can do data acquistion.  Looks like you are doing analog and digital signals.  There are quite a few factors that you need to take into account when choosing a DAQ board, depending on your application.  Here is a website that will help you decide on what kind of board you need.  Some other questions that you need to keep in mind are what kind of platform do you want your data acquistion board to be on, for example, PCI or USB. 

Also, are you going to be using LabVIEW to program your board?  If you are doing something simple such as just acquiring and storing to an excel sheet, the board is shipped with drivers that includes software that will allow you to acquire and log without any programming.
