Initial search direction in Load Reference VI

Hi,

I have a PCI 7344 motion controller. I have connected a drive to axis1. I'm trying to use the load reference and find reference VIs. In load reference VI, there is a parameter called "Initial Search Direction", which according to my understanding, specifies the direction in which the motor should rotate when the find reference command is initiated. But the direction of the motor does not change whatever be the value of the parameter "Initial Search Direction". Please give me a small example in which I can select the initial search direction through an enum control, or suggest a suitable method and possible mistakes that I may be commiting in programming or hardware connections.

Hi Giridhar,

The Load Reference Parameter function will allow the initial search direction to be changed.  Assuming you are using the correct board and axis, the most common problem is setting the correct search type.  By default, the initial search direction would be changed for finding home.  If you wish to change this for another reference type, like find index, make sure this is selected.  I have also attached a very simple vi which show how to change the initial search direction for find home.
