P70360 Stepper Driver - P7000 won't connect to driver

I have a P70360 Stepper Driver connected to a NI Stepper Motor.  When I connect it to power, a green status light turns on. I would like to configure the driver using the software rather than the DIP switches.  I tried the DIP switches and it flashed red.

I downloaded the P7000 GUI/Firmware from the CD that came with the driver. I connected the driver to the computer using a serial connector.  I setup the COM1 settings with the settings from the manual.

When I pull up the P7000 Tools, it can not find the driver.

How do I configure the driver?  If I have to use the DIP switches, how do I connect them correctly?

Hi have you seen this document about getting started with the P7000? https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/372324c/resource/372324c.pdf

Yes I have seen that manual.  It didn't solve the problem.

It has the below on my problem.

The P7000 Tools configuration software does not detect the drive.

Verify that the drive is connected to the COM1 port on the computer.

Verify that the COM1 port settings are correct as described in Step 4: Configuring the P7000 Drive with the Serial Port (Optional).

Power is not properly connected. Verify that the green LED is on.

I have verified those things.

A few other things we can try -

Windows sometimes uses up COM1, have you tried using a different COM port?

Have you tested using a different serial cable?

Page 18 of this manual shows how to configure the dip switches - http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/P7000AC___Revision_F.pdf
