Problem

I am installing the PCI-7324 controller on a computer running XP.  I have installed the ValueMotion 5.02 driver for the controller, but I cannot locate the PCI in MAX.  I have opened LabVIEW and the motion tools palette is accessible.  I have read other threads saying that this legacy controller may not be supported on XP.  Is there a work-around for this?  Is the only way to get it working to format/uninstall XP and install Windows 2000?

I would simply like to drive one stepper motor and do not have the funds to purchase another controller.  I wish to continue to use the MID-7604 drive and the PCI-7324 controller if possible as I have just purchased a new stepper motor from NI.

I am not sure if this is possible.  In any case, it is not officially supported, as the ValueMotion driver software has not been updated in close to nine years at this point.

One thing that will definatley NOT work is installing ValueMotion 5.02 on a computer that already has a version of NI-Motion newer than 6.0, as these cannot co-exist.

In addition, if you are able to succesfully get the PCI-7324 to show up in MAX, you would need to upgrade the LabVIEW VIs. 

I cannot verify that it is even possible to use the PCI-7321 in Windows XP, nor can I test it out myself, as we no longer have this hardware available here in the support center.

I also want to add that it's highly recommended to discontinue the usage of ValueMotion boards, especially, if you are starting a new project. The PCI-7334 is a great replacement for this board.  The NI-Motion API is very similar to the ValueMotion API, so it's not very hard to get used to it.
