Task: Send a word of position information (inches and angle) for two axis (Z and theta) motion control application from 7350 to Flex RIO so that I can"stamp" incoming data packets with absolute position information.
I am configuring a system where I am using a 7350 to do my motion control. I am going to use breakpoints to trigger an event from a second piece of equipment. The second piece of equipment will generate a data packet that I must capture and analyze when it gets the breakpoint rising edge. I am using a 5122 and 7962R in P2P mode to do real-time acquisition and analysis. I want to be able to prepend the data packet that I receive from the second piece of equipment with the absolute Z and Theta position (as understood by the 7350) to the resultant data packet that I receive.
Question: 1. Can I route an RTSI line to an external IO on a PXI so that I can trigger an external device, or would I be better off going through a HS-DIO board for buffering, etc. (The HS-DIO board is my first choice..)
Question: 2. Can I send a data word from the 7350 to either a 5122 or a 7962 R (I am using P2P here) so that each data packet from my "grab" tool can be stamped with the absolute position? I don't have enough "bits" on the RTSI bus to encode enough resolution. I am thinking a shared variable, but am worried about latency.
Any thoughts?
Thanks?
