SmartMotor Interfacing w/ LabVIEW

bsteinma:

I briefly look at 1 vi (and was blinded by the intense color of the front panel) from the site you posted, they have a couple LabVIEW libraries. It looks like they just use VISA to send/recieve data over the serial port to the motor. I'd suggest you give them a try.

Heck, i may even want to give them a whirl, my backup SM2320 is sitting right next to my desk staring at me 🙂

To those still following this thread, I haven't solved my problem yet and just wanted to let you know that I'd let you know when I solve it.  I don't know how to write my own driver to communicate between LabVIEW and the SmartMotor software.  I'm going to contact Animatics directly again to see if they can help me with my problem.  I contacted the distributor that my lab purchased the original motor setup from but they no longer support Animatics and were unable to help but are supposed to give me some information for who to contact.  If anyone has any ideas in the meantime please feel free to let me know.  I am still checking this thread once in a while to see if there are any new replies.  I will let everyone know once I come across a solution.

Thanks,

bsteinma

bsteinma,

I don't know if this is an option for you, but NI has a great network of experienced Alliance Members, who do system integration for end users. Maybe it would be a good idea for you to contact one of those companies.
