Softmotion module failed to transition to active mode with error -77006

Hi

I am trying to configure a motion axis using Softmotion and a PXI 7842R. In order to create the axis I have used an example project from the LabVIEW help which is called "Servo Interface". I adapted this project to be used with PXI 7842R. Once I compiled the FPGA servo interface code, I tried to run the RT interface program but it didn't work. An error message appeared with code -77006. In addition, when I reboot the PXI an error message appear saying "NI Softmotion module failed to transition to active mode with error -77006". This message appear even when the project is not opened in the host. I think there is an issue with softmotion configuration or axis configuration, but I don't have any idea how to fix it. I tried enabling the axis in the project, deleting the axis in the project and creating it again, but didn't make any difference.

Has someone experienced this problem before? I will be very grateful for some advice.

Thanks

Edo

Hello Edo,

I have seen this problem before with a mismatch between the LabVIEW and SoftMotion versions that have been installed.  Is it possible that you upgraded LabVIEW 2010 to SP1 without upgrading SoftMotion to SP1 as well?

Thanks Burt,

I checked the installed software and reinstall NI Softmotion module in both the host and PXI however the problem remain the same.

I am a little confused with software requirements needed to perform my application. There are a lot of software, versions, patches, service packs... and it will be useful a brief compatibility guide to save time along the configuration process.

Thanks for your time and

Best regards

Edo

Thanks but it seems to me that it isn't so simple. In fact, in order to be able to deploy an axis in a RT tarjet, a support engineer at NI recommended me to install "NI Industrial Communications for Ethercat 2.1". Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.  In addition, NI RIO needs to be installed too, and I think there is some incompatibility between all these programs.

Thanks again

Edo

We should still confirm that this is not a software incompatibility issue before investigating any other possible causes.  Could you post a screenshot of the software installed on your controller?  The easiest way that I know to do this is to open up Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), expand Remote Systems, find your target, then expand the software section and then take a screenshot.  This will let us see everything that is installed and the version numbers.

It looks like your version of LabVIEW Real-Time could be updated on the controller, but I doubt that updating this will resolve the issue you are having.  I think at this point your best option will be to contact support.  http://www.ni.com/support/
