Spartan-3E driver and Labview FPGA 2009

Solved!

Hello,

Do we need a new Spartan-3E driver to work with Labview FPGA 2009 ? And, if so is it provided by National Instruments ?

Thanks,

Please take a look at this tutorial on using the Spartan 3E with LabVIEW FPGA.

Note: These are the first and second hits if you search NI.com for "spartan 3e"

Thanks Hunter for your reply. I have most of Labview FPGA material.

I was asking if the current Spartan-3E driver (which is version 8.6) provided by NI, will work with Labview FPGA 2009 ? If not, will NI release a new Spartan-3E driver or not.

Thanks,

 Walid F. Abdelfatah

wfarid,

Hello! That is a very good question! Give these drivers a shot. The readme says that it is compatable with LV2009 and LV FPGA 2009.

NOTE: That driver is actually for a different product based upon the Spartan 3e. The drivers may or may not work for Spartan 3e itself. I'm working on finding out that information.

Hello Ben,

 Thank you for your replies.

What do you mean by "That driver is actually for a different product based upon the Spartan 3e." ? Is there another Xilinx board supported by Labview FPGA ?

Thanks,

 Walid F. Abdelfatah

Walid-

Ben let me know you were looking for the 2009 driver for a Spartan 3E board.  There are two products, we support, based around this FPGA, and I believe they have slightly different IO and require different versions of the driver files.

The first product is an NI board for academics associated with the ELVIS II platform.  Please see this page:

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/category/engineering-lab-stations.html?productId=134146

and scroll down to the section "Buy the NI Digital Electronics FPGA Board" to see a picture of the board.  The driver Ben posted a link to works with this product.

Xilinx also has a Spartan 3E starter kit, that we support in LabVIEW.  See this link:

http://www.xilinx.com/products/devkits/HW-SPAR3E-SK-US-G.htm

The driver for this board has not been posted for LabVIEW 2009 yet.  If this is the one you need, please contact me directly at John.Harvey@ni.com and we can discuss how to get you the driver files (via FTP, or otherwise).

wfarid,

That driver was for the National Instruments Digital Electronics FPGA Board, I assumed you were using the Spartan-3E starter Kit

Hi everyone, the driver you are talking about is in the link

ftp.ni.com/evaluation/academic/NISPARTAN3E120f2.exe,  it is for labview 2009. If you need the one for labview 8.6 is different.

I hope it is be helpful
