Trigger Input Occurred status in MAX

We are configuring a new closed loop stepper setup with PCI 7344 and the "Trigger Input occurred" led in MAX is turning red after a search for encoder index. The "Encoder Index found" led is green.
What does mean "Trigger Input occurred" and what kind of misconfiguration can cause it?
Tanks.

Hello TulioB,

Thank you for using our discussion forum. Trigger inputs, or high-speed captures, capture the precise position of the motion system when an external trigger signal occurs. You can enable or disable the trigger inputs from the Advanced tab under 1-D Interactive in Measurement and Automation Explorer. The trigger configuration can be selected on the Breakpoint and Trigger tab under Axis Settings. Trigger Input Occurred Led being red will not have any effect on the motion of your stepper motor. I hope this helps you out. Have a great day!

Both breakpoint and trigger input are disable for this axis.
Getting "trigger input occurred" is normal if both breakpoint and trigger input are disable ?
Thanks.

Hello TulioB,

Do you have anything wired to the trigger inputs of the 7344? And are you seeing any unexpected behavior with motion control?

TulioB,

What you are see is normal. The Find Index functionality actually uses part of the HSC trigger input code path. The side affect is that the controller thinks it received a trigger input when it finds the encoder index.

More Detail:
Find Index configures the HSC circuitry to trigger when the index pulse occurs [and phase A and B are in the correct state]. When the HSC circuitry triggers, it captures the position and stores it. This position is used to move the motor to the exact position [encoder count] where the index is located.

Thus you see in MAX the the index was found and a trigger input has occurred.
