Great! Once you start moving things, all sorts of doors open. Good luck!

Would you be able to save the example file so that I can open it with LV version 8.0? I would have mentioned this sooner (last year), but our project had one of those famous "scope changes" so I didn't get a chance to use your file. Now I would like to pursue this to satisfy my curiosity.
Thanks for all of your help,
Bill

Uh... gee... now I am the newbie. I actually don't know - I never did it before! But I tried; tell me if it works.

During loading, Labview couldn't find "VISA Flush IO Buffer Mask.ctl. Looks like this is a type def control.
Can I use a control from the LV control pallette? What does this control? I've never used a VISA control.

I don't know what Flush IO Buffer Mask is about. My guess is that it is a constant that I am connecting to one of the earliest VISA vi's. I set these things up, both here and in general, by right clicking on a terminal and selecting Create Constant. Then I select the state of the constant if it is an enum. You should see six of these at the left end of the VISA items. I have attached a screen shot of my block diagram (I forget how to load an image inline into my posting here). My guess is further that if you Ignore Item while opening my vi, and then find where it is missing something, and you Create Constant and select its state to look like my screen shot, you will have fixed this problem.
I don't think I have any controls or anything else I designed that is called by this vi. I can right click on the link in my web browser and Open it without any error - it doesn't say it is searching for an item.If the advice above does not work, maybe we both need help. But see what this gets you for now.

By the way, when I open my attachment in a web browser it is too small to read. I have to detach it and open it with an image viewing program for it to be legible. Don't know why, and maybe it's just my PC or my browser.
If PCs get any easier to use I shall have to give up.
