Using user-defined naming convention for multi-axis machines

Are the user-defined naming conventions for motion axes setup in MAX available in LabView (ie, if axis 3 is renamed "rotary stage" in MAX, can I reference the motion axis as "rotary stage" in LabView instead of "Axis 3")?  This would make keeping tracking of axes in a multi-axis, multi-vector space system much simpler.  Any thoughts?

Currently you cannot reference your access by the user defined named created in MAX.
