motion with windows xp embedded

Yes, the GPIB board definitely works on XP Embedded. We have the card and software working with no problems once they are installed.

The problem is we must install post FBA. We have been unable to create an XPE component for GPIB that will work. Simply applying the INF will render a working driver, but none of the software will work (ibic, etc.). Even using generic commands to install NI-488 and PAL at FBA does not work (GPIB.INI is not populated, etc.).

If a feature must be installed post FBA, then it cannot be cloned. But we are having serious concerns about GPIB’s ability to be cloned regardless of the installation process. If the serial number value in GPIB.ini is card unique, then some process will need to run for each image to populate that value. That means some type of process (probably a service) would need to be created to populate the serial number value each time the OS is booted. All of this decreases the stability of the XPE build.

I do have one question. Why is the INF definition required for PAL in the NI-488 msi, instead of the PAL msi? This creates a mandatory dependency between the two, so why are they not combined in the same installation?
