Hi fauziana,
NI data acquisition devices are primarily designed to take measurements, so it's a good idea to measure the signals that you have mentioned with a DAQ device.
You also can use DAQ devices for control tasks, but for reliable and deterministic control behavioryou typically need to use a real-time operating system (not Windows!). If you want to learn more about the pros and cons of using DAQ devices for motion control tasks, please refer to these threads. Still for standard motion control tasks it's much more efficient in terms of development time, to use a dedicated motion control device for the motion control part of your application.
In general the control part is independant from the motor type, as these devices only generate control signals (+/- 10 V). There are many power drives available, that accept this type of control signal and you should select your motor according to the requirements of your application.
For a more detailed system consulting, please contact your local NI branch. To select the products that fit best to your application requirements a face to face discussion is much more efficient than a discussion forum thread, because there are a lot of parameters that need to be taken into consideration. If you tell me in which country you are living, I can provide appropriate contact data to you.
Thanks and kind regards,

Fauziana,
to make it clear and simple: A DAQ device in a Windows environment is the wrong device in the wrong environment for motion control applications. You can waste a lot of time on developing an application based on that hardware, but there is a high chance for failure.
Here are the contact data for NI in Malaysia and I highly recommend to contact them for a more detailed consulting:

Hello Everyone,
I would ultimately like to control an xy stage from ThorLabs . What I would like to do is the following:
I would like the stage to do the following:
1) Move down 1cm
2) Move right 1 micron
3) Move up 1cm
4) Move right 1 mircon
5) Repeat steps 1-4 until stage has moved a total of 1cm across
6) Then have the stage move 1cm to the left
7) 1 micron down
8) One cm to the right
9) 1 micron down
10) repeat steps 6-10 until stage has moved a toral of 1 cm down
11) repeat steps 1-10 for 1000 layers
I am brand new to LabView and currently only have the program to run one motor with the Active X function provided by ThorLabs.
My current program is attached.
Does any one know of any existing programs which do something similar or would any one know how to construct this program?

I have same problems with you. I need stage X moving to right 5 mm and continue with stage Y moving down 5 mm. I need it controlled from VI, not from Thorlabs front panel. Any body can help me ?
Thanks,
Rahmat

I am doing the same too, But then I am operating two stages in Mercury Step, any idea for me to solve the problems for running two dimensional scan?
