Hi folks, I am working on a research project looking at controlling simulated equipment from a C# application, using SoftMotion for SolidWorks to interface with an equipment assembly in SOlidWorks. The focus is on the C# and LabVIEW parts of this, the equipment could be anything. The problem is I am a coder rather than a designer - I'll eat up the C# and LabVIEW but building a suitable assembly in SolidWorks could take me weeks. Does anyone know if there are suitable sample assemblies available anywhere? There is a nice single axis assembly used in a tutorial at http://zone.ni.com/wv/app/doc/p/id/wv-1417 which would be perfect. I just need something with a motor and one axis. Thanks Fran

Dear Wolfbag
What you've found is a good start. What I also recommend is looking in the NI Example Finder, searching for the keyword "solidworks". In here are 5 good examples to help you get started including a linear and rotary motor in a Solidworks Assembly. Unfortunetly with regard to Solidworks assemblies, there are very limited examples I have, unless the community here have some of their own.
Also, there is another good reference guide which I've referenced below:

David, Thanks for the tip, there's one there (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3402) which has a SolidWorks assembly attached which I'll have a look at. Even if its not suitable for what I want to do there will be some learning in it. Cheers Fran

Hi, I found the links below gave me everything I needed to know to get started...I hope they help. If you want to see the SolidWorks and LabVIEW components I used I have posted them at http://sites.google.com/site/franmccmscsis/documents-assignments. The SolidWorks model is very simple as it was only used as proof-of-concept. The LabVIEW VI includes TCP/IP communication with a C# application. http://www.ni.com/virtualprototyping/training.htm https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/372876e/resource/372876e.pdf https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q000000YHUpCAO&l=en-US
