stepper motor control using serial port

Hello all,

I'm trying to control a stepper motor which is provided with its drive unit by using serial port of my computer. The manual of the drive unit is attached. I will be controlling the number of steps and direction of rotation from my VI. For this I need to provide the control pulses to the drive unit through DB25 pin on the unit. Can I use the same serial port for both control pulses and the direction of rotation signals ? Also I will be taking two inputs (Ready and Error) from the motor into my VI (refer pages 19-22 from the manual). How can I generate the pulses at the serial port with following specifications - 2.5-5 V, pulse step >=2ms ?  On what pins of my computer DB9 serial  port will the control pulses be available ?  I have studied few examples on Visa serial communication, what I understand is - I need to provide the write VISA block with string input of  my control pulses (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks in advance

Have a great day !  Smiley Happy
