6289 multifunction DAQ

I was wondering whether NI PCI 6289 is line-by line or port-by port card.

I want to design self-test card for this NI board. So I was thinking connecting all (8) the lines from port 1 to port 2, as well as connecting port 0 with itself, therefire I would form 16 bi-directional lines. My question is:

can I connect P0.0 to P0.1, P0.2 to P0.3, P0.4 to P0.5 and so on

OR

do I have to connect P0.0 to P0.8, P0.1 to P0.9 => Port 0.[0-7] to Port 0.[8-15], P0.[16-23] to P0.[24-31] ?

It has port 0, with 0 through 31 channels.

          port 1, 0 through 7

          port 2, 0 through 7

Hello Intern.

The direction control for the PCI 6289 is line-by-line configurable, as each digital IO terminal can be configured as either input or output. 

The configurations for port zero that you described in the latter part of this message are both possible.
