I want to use a 68 pin cable for a custom application to get 16 differential signals into a board. Ideally the cable should have 16 individually shielded twisted pairs. For example, the SH68-68-EP cable has 8 individually shielded twisted pairs, and then 13 unshielded pairs, 16 single conductors, etc. Is there any kind of similar cable that has 16 individually shielded twisted pairs? It seems like the SHC68-C68-D3 variety might fill this criteria (though I can't find a wiring list for it), but that has VHDCI connectors on both sides, whereas I ideally want to find 68 pin D-type SCSI connectors on both or at least one side.

Hello IliaSl,
Unfortunately there is no a 68 pin cable that has 16 individually shielded twisted pairs. This is due to the fact that maximum number of differential channels that can be supported by one single connector for our data acquisition boards is 8 channels. For example, the NI PCIe-6363 supports 16 differential channels, but two connectors are needed for that (VHDCI by the way).

What about the 5752 adapter module which has 32 differential analog inputs, 16 on each VHDCI connector? I think the cable recommended for that, the SHC68-C68-D3 must have 16 individually shielded twisted pairs right? Is there a wire mapping list for it similar to the wire mapping lists for other 68 pin cables, found here:
http://search.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/global/lang/en/pg/1/q/wire%20mapping%20list%2068/
Also, is there any cable similar to this but with SCSI connectors instead of VHDCI?

Hi IliaSl,
Indeed this cable includes not 16, but 22 shielded pairs. However, the only combination that I was able to find is with VHDCI connectors.
There is an adaptor for SHC68-C68-D4 but it DOES NOT have a straight connection input to output (it could have been the solution).

Unfortunately there is not a product that I can recommend you for this custom application.

A simple generally available SCSI-VHDCI adapter would do the trick, right? Something like this?
For the D3 cable, you mentioned 22 shielded pairs. From the manual for the 5752, I can infer the pins for 16 of them. What are the analog pins for the other 6 channels and their shields? Is this documented somewhere?
Thanks,
Ilia

Hi,
Indeed, but you just need to be really sure that this is a straight connector and it is expected some modification in the specifications of the wire (impedance for example). Some of the lines marked as RSVD and AI GND correspond to the rest of the shielded pairs (in the cable).
