Accelerator Pedal Sensor simulation

I am looking to simulate the APS (accelerator pedal sensor) to an engine ECU to control engine speed.

Does anyone have any info on this, or which board to post this on?

If so, is this just a straight analog voltage (with the exception of Cat engine ECUs that take a PWM input from the APS)?

Certainly it might depend on which specific sensor you are trying to simulate, but a quick google search found this article from Toyota that explains APS pretty well, and seems to indicates that it is in fact converting to an analog DC voltage.

However if you have a specific model you are trying to simulate, then best to check its specs.
