Accuracy data for USB-9219

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

Does anyone have actual temperature accuracty and repeatability data for the NI USB-9219 with input from class A (0.06%) Pt 100 RTD (0.0385)?

thank you,

michael

Hi Michael,

It looks like you have the same question as this post .  I realize the result of that forum isn't ideal, but it will give you a starting point while I look into this issue a little bit further.  Thanks!

Yes, that post seems to have the same question of actual temperature accuracy.  According to the last thread of that post, the accuracy for a Pt 100 RTD with 0.385 ohm/C would be approximately +/- 3.4.  This seems rather high for a device like the 9219.  That's why I was hoping to find data where someone has already "calibrated" (accuracy check) an RTD with the 9219 at various standard reference temperatures to get true accuracy values at each reference temperature.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael,

From everything that I've found, the specifications in the manual are the best we give.  I will double check to see if I can find any other information on true accuracy at various temperatures, but I think that the values listed in the manual are going to be the best ones to go by.  I'll double check this with the Product Support Engineer though.  Take care!

Hi Michael,

I looked into this a little bit further and it turns out that the calculation, as presented on the other post, is the best it gets.  While that does seem like poor accuracy, using the 9219, you're going to sacrifice accuracy for flexibility in measurement type.  As well, it doesn't seem that we have the detaile, temperature specific, accuracy data you're looking for.  If you are needing a device that gives you better accuracy, I would recommend that 9237 instead.  Have a good one!

Thank you for the information on the 9219.

However, I will have the same question for the 9237.... Are there any actual (absolute temperature accuracy) calibration data available  using this module with a Pt100 (0.00385) RTD?  I would think that someone (either NI or customers that use the device(s)) would have performed calibration tests to get actual temperature accuracy data (typical and/or maximum error)  when used with published compatible sensor inputs (such as Pt100 / 0.00385 RTD)...?

I was wrong on recommending the 9237- you'll definitely need the 9219 instead.  However, unfortunately, the information that you are looking for has not been collected/compiled for your sensor.  The best we can do is calculate the accuracy based on the given specifications.  Sorry I can't help more, we simply guarantee our specifications for the ranges they are given in.
