Adding a second DAQ (NI 9215) to a computer

Solved!
Go to solution

I suspect this is a very basic question however I don't know the answer, We have a USB 9215 which we have been using for some time we have purchased a second one which we want to use for exactly the same purpose. My question is when I plug the new one into the computer the NI measurement and automation explorer software detects it however it does not work as it has not been configured how do I go about copying the existing DAQmx tasks onto it ?

Hi,

All the MAX tasks are assigned to a specific device, if you have a new one you will need to create new tasks, or modify the channel settings in the task.

Its actually a little simpler than that.  The Tasks are assciated with a specific VISA Alias, which is in turn reserved for a unique device.  However, NI provides a tool to manage and change VISA Options.  Convienently available in MAX>>Tools>>NI-VISA>>VISA Options (nice of them to call it thatSmiley Wink)

Just re-assign the Alias of the old device to the new device and Bob's your uncle
