Amplify an analog output signal generated by NI usb 6225

Hi everyone,

I would like to control a ceramic heater (SFSE750, capacity = 750 W, input voltage = 230 V http://www.ceramicx.com/shop/square-flat-solid-element/) using an analog output signal generated by NI usb 6225. But when using the usb 6225 I can only have a 0-10V. So I think I have to amplify the signal (x23) using a switching power supplies. Do you know any good products or solutions?

Thanks

First thought was an old stage ligth dimmer... good for 1(2)kW with 0-10V input .. usually comes in 4/8/12... channel versions...

but you get single channel version for home ligth ..  (google will find many more 😉 )  just make shure that the 10V input is isolated from the main power , just pick up the phone and ask if it's not clearly stated in the datasheet ....

Should be in the 50 €$ range ....

 Hi Henrik,

Thank you for your quick advice. I understand universal dimmer can control the strength of the heater. But, I am not sure I can control the strength by changing the voltage generated by NI USB-6225. Does the universal dimmer have functions to accept such a variable input?

Thanks,

Toshiyuki

As stated, look for a dimmer with a isolated 0-10V control input and input burden around 5k to 10k Ohm (the may output current of most AOs is 2mA ... see spec of your AO)

However, if you are not trained to work with 230V .. let others, that have this skills, do that part. You only live once ... and don't want fry your hardware 😉

Depending on the application a simple opto SSR  with a simple bang-bang (on-off) control might be a solution.
