Hi mchips,
I’m not sure if I understood your question correctly, so please post back if I missed it completely. If you want to provide your own ground to the DAQ card you can do so as long as it is an isolated card. If you are asking to use the isolated cards and isolated units and not provide a ground reference to the card, then I believe that it is not possible. You must provide the isolated card with a ground reference; otherwise your measurement may be unreliable. I don’t know what card specifically you are using, but I just look up the user manual of one of our isolated cards and it explains that you must have a local ground to AI GND (pag 69). I hope this is helpful.
