Can I use a PXI-6224 with SCB-68 to take measurements from 4-wire RTDs or do I need a separate current source?

Solved!

I suspect I already know the answer to this question:

I have a PXI-6224 M-series DAQ card and a SCB-68 terminal block and want to take measurements using a bunch of 4-wire RTDs. Is the 6224 able to source the current for these measurements, or is this not possible with the equipment I have?

I know that NI offers other solutions for my problem: I am interested in identifying whether I can do these measurements with the apparatus I currently have on hand.

Thanks!

Hello Jeffrey,

You have a couple of options here, but it does look like you will need some more hardware.

The PXIe-4357 has the signal conditioning built in, but it will not work on the curent chassis you have:

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/model/pxie-4357.html

We also have a cDAQ option with the NI 9217, but again this gets you into a different platform:

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/model/ni-9217.html

We used to have an option that we do not sell anymore - the SC-2042RTD.

You can also use these two items in conjunction with eachother along with your current PXI card :

https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/model.scc-rtd.html

Lastly, you could get a SCXI chassis and drop one of these in it:

Thank you,

Thanks, Joel. As I said in my original post, I suspected that was the answer.

I actually have terminal blocks and cabling on order that will enable me to use the existing PXI-4071 DMM and the PXI-2530 matrix/MUX modules in our PXI chassis and will purchase a PXI-4141 SMU for these types of measurements- and many other applications. But I was hoping to get a head start on a project while waiting for that hardware to arrive.
