That would be true. When ever I am building a panel I try to stay away from 120V if possible for noise reduction in my data acquisition. At minimum I try to isolate any thing that will have a big power surge like a solenoid. So even if you decide to use a 120 V solenoid then I would try to isolate the control signal.

An easy way to provide electrical isolation and reduce electrical surges/noise is to use a solid state relay (SSR) with DC control signal input and an AC zero crossing output. It will only turn the load on and off when the sinusoidal AC power waveform is at 0V.
