DAQ AI from IC pins

Anyone have recommendations (clip, wiring, shielding, etc.) for measurement of volt potentials directly from dip IC pins on the board?

First of all, this really depends on your AI board, if you only have 1 or 2 inputs, you may want a input that can be "moved" from pin to pin, but if you have enough inputs, wire all the inputs to as many signals as you can.
Check to see if your card has digital input as well as analog, the digital inputs may work good as trigger signals. Usually, the analog inputs have a higher input resistance than digital inputs, meaning that the analogs will not disturb your circuit as much.
If your IC under test has lots of internal switching, you may want to put a small capacitor (0.1uF) between power and ground on the IC, this will cut down on the switching noise radiating from the chip.
Try to use small wiring, 20-24 gauge, and look for shielded wire if you can. Keep the runs
as short as possible, and away from noisy equipment.
If your IC is running at a high speed, then keep the front panel activity as simple as possible, and try to use the advanced VI's whenever possible, they are more complicated but can be much faster.
