DAQ driver 6.9.2 doesn't work wekk with PCI-MIIO-16XE-10

Dear Sir,

I am having trouble installing my  PCI-MIIO-16XE-10 card using DAQ driver 6.9.2. After I finished the installation on 2 brand new Dell computers with windows XP. I checked it from windows device manager, everythingm is OK.

From Measurement and Automation-> run the test panel->analog input. when I run the analog input for channel 0, it works for a few hours and then it give me an -10845 error. If I close the measurement and Automation and relaunch it again, then computer will crash with a blue screen saying error with NIPALK.sys error.

I have installed more than 8 such system before using DAQ 6.9.2 and PCI-MIO-16XE-10, and we found the recent installed systems( total of 4) all have the same problem.
I also have NI GPIB card installed in the system as well and I feel that GPIB works just fine.

This is very urgent and Please help ASAP.

Hi lei.zhang,

Error -10845 is a hardware buffer (FIFO) overflow error. This error occurs when the NI-DAQ driver cannot read data from the DAQ device's FIFO buffer fast enough to keep up with the acquired data as it flows to the buffer (i.e., the FIFO buffer overflows before all the original data can be read from it). This is usually due to hardware limitations on your computer system. Sometimes using a DAQCard with a larger FIFO can solve the problem, but a better solution is to lower the acquisition rate or move to a faster system. Another solution would be to reduce the number of devices on the PCI bus to free up more bandwidth for your DAQ device.

As for the NIPALK.sys error, this is mainly due to a conflict between the NI-DAQ driver and a multiprocessor kernel. This error can occur on both single and multiprocessor machines which have a multiprocessor kernel installed (Windows HAL). It is rare that this behavior occurs on a uniprocessor machine, but possible nonetheless. Could you be more specific about the error message? What kind of machine are you using?

Hopefully fixing the overflow problem will get rid of the NIPALK problem as well.

I hope this help,

Dear S_Hong,

I am using Brand New Dell T3400 Intel core 2duo cpu, E4500 @2.20GHz, 2.19Ghz, 1GB RAM with wondows XP professional version 2002. service pack3. There are 3 PCI slots in the PC in whcih I have 1 NI PCI-GPIB, 1 for PCI-MIO-16XE-10 and one empty. I also install my own application software (Microsoft VC6.0). The probem shows on software. However, when I run software from NI 6.9.2 for analog input, the error -10845 still show up after a few hours.

I have installed the same systems a few month ago, and I don't have any problem. I am using PCI-MIO-16XE-10 I bought a couple of weeks ago and was wondering if there is any change on PCI-MIO-16XE-10 from NI.

Please advice.

Lei

HI lei.zhang,

Have you tried running the exact same task in MAX on other computers to see if you get the same problem? Have you also tried bringing down the acquisition rate and see if that helps solve the problem?

As for any changes to the DAQ board, the following link will show you how to check the revision of your device.
