DAQ interface for -40C to +70C

Hi,

I am seting up a life test in an environmental chamber; the temperature range will be be -40C to +70C.

The UUTs are pressure transducers so accuracy of the measurements is crucial.

I will be monitoring the the tranducers with a PXI and DAQ outside of the chamber.

What NI products - cable and terminal block are suitable for use inside the environmental chamber?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

As far as I can tell, NI do not sell any DAQ Terminal blocks that work within that temperature range. You can check the operating temperature range by checking the environmental specifications in the operator's manual or installation guide for a device.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply.

The other option I was considering was to customise an SHC68--- cable - is this suitable for use in the temperature range I require?

NB. The acble will not be under any mechanical stress e.g. flexing, vibration etc.

Thanks,

Dave

In my experience, you just run the wires from the UUT and inside of the temperature chamber out of the chamber and then into the terminal block.  Let's not overcomplicate things here.

Hi Dave,

I've been looking into the cable for you and all that I've been able to find for you is a KB saying the following:

"NI cannot guarantee proper functionality when using the SHC68-C68-D4 cable outside the operating temperature of the connected device, and doing so may result in damage to the cable or device. It is therefore recommended that you use the SHC68-C68-D4 cable within the specified operating temperature of the NI High-Speed Digital I/O Device it is connected to."

Essentially, if the terminal device is not supported for your temperature range. The cable also won't be.

Crossrulz seems to have some experience setting up something like this. If you have questions about how to implement this, he might be able to give you some guidance.
