DAQ will not turn on.

 Hi,

I was using my my USB-6341, X Series Multifunction DAQ the other day for a while and it was working fine.  I turned everything off and went to set up in another room and the DAQ wouldn't turn on.  Everything else is working, but now all I get when I try to turn the DAQ on is a flash of light from the active/ready indicators and then nothing.

The time difference between the set ups was about a minute and I made sure to turn everything off and unplug everything safely.  Why would it be doing this?  I've only had this thing for about two weeks.

I really don't want to have to return it and wait for another one.  It took 3 weeks going through financials and getting it shipped and it's going to take another 3 to have to go and get everything reset.

I would recommend you to contact NI because there may be some hardware issue that only NI can fix it.

Hello DCushing,

I am sorry that you have encountered an issue with your USB-6341.  To keep the rest of this note intelligible:

Setup 1 -  Everything works as expected.

Setup 2 -  USB-6341 will not power on.

If setup 2 included the same workstation, USB cable and power adapters that were used in setup 1, I would also recommend calling in to our support line.  Troubleshooting potentially failed hardware on a forum can take a long time, and if it is failing, you'd need to call in to complete the RMA process anyway.

The number for our support line is 1-866-ASK-MYNI (1-866-275-6964)

Best regards.

Can you check if the device shows up in Windows Device Manager or not?

If it does not, then the problem could be either:

1)  Damaged Power Supply (can verify with DMM) or bad connection between power supply and device.

2)  Bad USB Cable / Connection (might try switching out cables)

3)  Damaged 6341 (will need to send to NI for RMA).

If the device does show up in Device Manager, see if the correct driver is associated with it (if there is not, the device should be labelled as "Unknown Device" with a yellow ! icon).  If the correct driver is not associated you should try to do this manually.

If the correct driver is installed and associated with the device but you still cannot use it, you should next check your services (run services.msc from start menu and make sure that NI Device Loader is "Started").

Best Regards,
