DAQ1200 is not recognized

We are using Daq1200 PCMCIA cards with laptops to make measurements in our lab.

We have several laptops and daq1200s. Recently we have bought a new Dell Latitude laptop. I have installed NIDAQ 6.93 as I did for other computers but there was a problem.
The card was not detected by the computer. It took many restarts, etc before windows said "New hardware found" and then it installed the driver for it. However, the device still can not be seen by Measurement and Automation Explorer.
First, I suspected if something is wrong with the card but it worked with another Dell laptop.

So any ideas?

Thanks...

Hi hayazh,

Were you sure to install the driver before putting the hardware in your computer? Also, if you installed the driver from a CD, you may want to try removing the device, uninstalling the driver, downloading it from our website and installing that.

If you look in the device manager at your DAQCard 1200, do you see an exclamation point or question mark over it? If you do, I would suggest deleting it from the device manager and then scanning for hardware changes. After doing this, you can go into Measurement and Automation Explorer and press F5 to refresh. You mentioned that you have multiple DAQCard 1200s, have you checked for this same behavior with another device in this computer?

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Laura,

Thank you for your reply.

Although I have installed the device after I installed the NIDAQ 6.9.3 software, it didn't show up on MAX 2.2
I have tried with different card and result was same. Windows was able to see the card but not MAX.

Anyway, I have done as you have suggested and removed the data acquisition device from device manager and shutdown the computer, placed the daq card in PCMCIA slot and started the computer. And now, it is working 🙂

Thanks,
