DAQmx instillation problem

Hello,

I've been installing Labview 8.5 on a large number of computers in a teaching lab. I've had no problems with the majority of them but 4 have not installed DAQmx properly.

The problem manifests itself in 2 ways:
1. nidevmon.exe can't load (see error message attached)
2. If the computer has a PCI card (3 of the 4 computers have PCI-6221 cards fitted) it is impossible to install it. (see error message attached)

I'm not sure if this helps but I've had a look at the event viewer in Computer Management, and on startup NIPALK failed to load.

I've tried reinstalling all the NI software, reinstalling DAQmx8.6, downloading and installing the latest version of DAQmx (8.7), changing the slot the PCI card is in. None of which have helped or cahnged anything.
I've had the Symantec antivirus software disabled while installing and Windows on these computer is completely up to date.

Any help would be very gratefully received.

Adrian.

first you should sure that you have a full license version professional users
and then download the latest driver from NI.com related to your DAQ card
restart your computer and try to start again

Thanks for the reply. I hope I understand it correctly.
We have the appropriate academic site licence and copy of the software. Also, as stated, I have already downloaded the latest version of DAQmx from the website. Is there anything else I should be downloading and installing?

Hi Adrian,

It looks like the PAL daemon is having issues starting, if you could include the error message I'd appreciate it and then I can look into this further for you.

Also you mention you are moving from DAQmx 8.6 to 8.7, a few upgrade issues existed late last year that you may be running into so if you could please complete the following steps to see if this helps cure the issue (as noted in the following link)

Thanks for the reply Rob. I tried the instructions in the link you supplied, but unfortunately they seemed to have no effect on the problem.

Assuming I've attached it correctly, you should be able to see details about the NIPALK driver not starting. Please note, no error messages were shown whilst the computer was booting up.

Also, I'm not sure if the error messages I tried to attach to my first post (showing the "nidevmon.exe" and "add hardware" errors) attached properly, so I've tried adding them again.

Hi Adrian,

No problems at all, the attachments have been included ok this time. It appears as though there may be an issue with the installation and I'd recommend following through this document to see if this helps cure the issue:

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately they didn't yield any success, so I got the IT boys to rebuild the offending computers. The software, drivers and all, installed perfectly first time after the rebuild.
