You may have looked at this already, but when you have the
context help window open for a particular VI, there is a link to the “Detailed
Help” for that VI at the bottom of the window.
This opens up the LabVIEW Help (which can also be accessed by going to
Help >> Search the LabVIEW Help) which does provide some more detailed
information about the VI.
Another great resource is the DAQmx Help File. I am not sure
of its location in the Linux environment, but on Windows XP it is located by
going to Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-DAQ

Beyond the documentation there are some great resources for
learning about how to effectively program using DAQmx.

Another suggestions is to open the LabVIEW Example Finder
(with LabVIEW open go to Help >> Find Examples). In the Example Finder on the right hand side
of the dialog box you can navigate to some great DAQmx examples by going to
Hardware Input and Output >> DAQmx and then going to the folder that represents the kind of measurement you
want to take.
