Start by looking at the shipping examples for Analog Output -- from the menu, "Help->Find Examples...".
I think you'll probably find one there that acts like a function generator, including a place on the GUI to specify sine, square, sawtooth, or triangle shape. If I remember right, I think that kind of example has been around since well before LV 2011.
