How do I get NI-DAQmx to recognize my new USB-6211?

Hi-
I just got a new USB-6211.  I installed NI-DAQmx version 8.1.0f1 (from the NI web site) but Windows says it cannot find a driver for the device.  The specifications say that it requires NI-DAQmx 8.1 or later (http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/cat_mseries_621x.pdf) so I don't see why it is having a problem.  Measurement and Automation Explorer correctly sees other devices installed on my computer (eg. a PCI-6259 and a PCI-6723).  When I attach the device, Windows goes through the Found New Hardware wizard to look for a driver, but says it can't find one.  Device Manager shows it as a "USB Device" with a question mark icon in the Other Devices section.  What's going wrong here?

Please note that I am using Labview 7.0 on Windows XP.  I believe that NI-DAQmx 8.1 is the newest version that supports LabVIEW 7.0 (and upgrading Labview is not possible at this point).

Dave,

Release notes for DAQmx 8.1 do not indicate that it supports USB-6211.

Release notes for DAQmx 8.3 show that this version introduces support for USB-6211.

Hi Dave,

You are correct DAQmx v8.1 is the latest version with support for LabVIEW 7.0 and as centerbolt said DAQmx v8.3 is the earliest version with support for the USB-6211. Based on this information you will not be able to use a USB-6211 without DAQmx v8.3 and you can not use LabVIEW 7.0 with anything later than DAQmx v8.1. Thank you for pointing out the error on the specifications sheet, I have taken the appropriate steps to correct this error. I have also attached a link to the readme file for each version.

So, it looks like the data sheet of specifications for this card is wrong.  How nice.

Anyone know of a way to either use two versions of DAQmx side-by-side, or an easy way to use a newer DAQmx in an older Labview version?  (Going through and replacing each DAQmx call with a C-style call to nidaqmx.dll probably isn't the best option, because it breaks all existing VIs.)

Hello All,

Dave Rahmlow has contacted National Instruments for phone support. We will work with them to determine a resolution to this issue and I will post the solution when we have determined one.

Hi all,

The resolution for this issue was to exchanging the USB-6211 for a USB-6009 which is compatible with DAQmx 8.1.  A complete list of devices that are compatible with DAQmx 8.1 is available in the Readme.
